Where We Are
Lincoln County is in the south central part of New Mexico and was named for President Abraham Lincoln. It's bounded on the north by
Torrance and
Guadalupe counties, and in the east by
de Baca and
Chaves counties. The southern boundary is shared with
Otero County and the west is bounded by
Sierra and
Socorro counties. The county seat is Carrizozo or "Zozo", named for the
carrizo grass used for cattle feed, and the largest municipality is Ruidoso on the Ruidoso (Noisy) River.
